We are recruiting a


Scientist (PhD/MSc) in

Cancer Biology - Drug Discovery - Computational Biology (m/f/d)


to grow, support and diversify our data mining and drug development activities in Freiburg (Germany)


Key responsibilities include:


You will have the responsibility to realize in silico projects in the field of novel anticancer agents and therapeutic approaches. To this end, your main responsibilities will be:


  • In depth characterization of new targets using various computational tools/ cancer databases

  • In silico identification of candidate ligands/small molecules

  • Analyze, visualize, and summarize OMICS data (NGS, microarrays, …) from large public and proprietary molecular databases (preclinical and clinical data) for cancer target identification and biomarker discovery

  • Maintain, improve, and optimize our bioinformatics tools, algorithms and databases for cancer data mining

  • Contribute to the development of analytical tools in our Cancer Data Miner software

  • Communicate projects and results to various audiences


Qualification profile:


  • PhD or MSc in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology or related field with significant computational and statistical component

  • Experience high throughput data handling, working in R environment and biostatistics

  • Experience in in silico hit identification (virtual screening, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations) is clear advantage

  • Good understanding of high throughput molecular characterization methods (NGS, microarrays)

  • Familiar with Linux environment (shell scripting, python, high-performance computing)

  • General knowledge of standard cellular and molecular assays (immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, cell culture) is a plus

  • A high degree of self-motivation, flexibility, and willingness to broaden the knowledge of data analytic tasks that are required to independently conduct experiments

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. A team player operating with a high degree of professionalism, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • An excellent level in English (written and spoken), German is a plus
