We are recruiting a


Scientist (PhD/MSc) in

Computational Biology - Data Science - Cancer Biology (m/f/d)


to grow, support and diversify our bioinformatics activities in Freiburg (Germany)


Key responsibilities include:


  • Analyze, visualize, and summarize OMICS data (NGS, microarrays, …) from oncology proprietary and public large molecular databases (preclinical and clinical data)

  • Maintain, improve, and optimize our bioinformatics tools and algorithms for cancer data mining

  • Contribute to the development of analytical tools in our Cancer Data Miner software

  • Effectively perform and present data analyses in the field of Translational Oncology, Molecular Diagnostics, Clinical Development, and Statistic

  • Biomarker discovery and validation, and development of predictive models


Qualification profile:


  • PhD (preferred) in Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field with a significant computational and statistical component, or MSc with experience and knowhow in computational methods in cancer biology

  • Experience with key Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) tools and data processing methods. Automatization, and with Linux environment (shell scripting, python, high-performance computing)

  • Expertise with R scientific computation environments

  • Experience with analysis of large genetic, genomic, and drug datasets (e.g. TCGA, GTEx…)

  • Ability to run statistical analyses for biomarker investigation

  • General understanding of the major concepts of cancer biology and associated molecular information

  • A high degree of self-motivation, flexibility, and willingness to broaden the knowledge of data analytic tasks that are required to independently conduct experiments.

  • A team player operating with a high degree of professionalism and enthusiasm, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • An excellent level in English (written and spoken), German and French are a plus


The position is full-time and immediately available.
